Memories (2022).

This is an experimental animation based on a poem I wrote years ago. “Memories” is a short animation piece on coming to terms with the death of certain individuals close to me. Death is an important concept in my religion and culture, it is seen not just as the end of one’s life but the beginning of a new one. The reference of death here also applies to memories of certain places/ ideals linked to my homeplace. It is also a process of visiting the memories of these places that I have strong affection for in my heart.

Process.

I wanted most of the illustrations to be true to the original locations so the rendering was mostly realistic although grains and textures were added for subtle effects. The majority of the animation was done in After Effects including the vignettes, light flares, and halos. The illustration is a mix of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Procreate work. The sound arrangement and design were done in Premier Pro.
